apparently preservativi doesn’t mean preservatives in Italian

I’m breaking my silence to tell you that this week we have been mostly eating conkers. They are actually quite nice especially with a glass of Novello, fresh wine that you have to drink now because, as I discovered much to everyones amusement, it doesn’t contain condoms.

    So I’m not the only one who did this? When I was first learning Italian, I said that American parmesan cheese had preservativi in it and everyone looked at me so funny!Well, judging by the comments already, looks like this is a little rite of passage for us.

    So glad I’m not the only one, anybody else ever asked if the fig jam had real vaginas in or is that one really just me?

    In response to your comment Yael, I never asked if there were real vaginas in fig jam but I did ask a fruit vendor if he sold green vaginas (thinking I was saying figs).
