Check out the dates of this electricity bill

‘Clearly there has been some mistake’ I hear you say. Apparently not, we really do owe Enel 625.61 euros. Sorry I am so staggered by this news that I am unable to write anything else…

But why in 2 months was it so much? Electricity does cost a lot here. Were you cooking with an electric oven?

Unfortunately this happens to many people. Basically what happens is ENEL only reads your meter once or twice a year. The rest of the time they estimate how much you have used. AT the end of the year they do read the meter and then send the bill to make up for allof the undercharges. Your best bet from now on is to follow the helpful hints I have on this page. Hope this helps,Cristina

Thanks Cristina I’m sure that’s the problem. Problem is that still means our bills should have been around €125 bimonthly, still a hell of alot even with an electric oven!
